The Gans Lady Grizzlies ended a six-game losing streak on March 25 with a home doubleheader sweep of the Oaks Lady Warriors, winning the opener 10-0 in three innings and the nightcap 7-2.
The Lady Grizzlies, who had their home Friday twinbill against Indianola rained out and rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. April 10, opened the week with a 12-4 five-inning loss to Cameron on March 24 In the Game 1 win over Oaks, the Lady Grizzlies (3-6) scored once in the first inning and nine runs in the third inning for a 10-0 lead to put the game into run-rule status.
For the game, Gabbie Price was 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs batted in and two runs scored for Gans.
Destiny Phillips (2-4) got the win as she tossed a three-hitter.
In the nightcap victory over Oaks, after the Lady Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady Grizzlies scored four runs in their half of the frame for a 4-1 lead. After Oaks cut its deficit to 4-2 in the third inning, Gans responded with a three-run third inning for a 7-2 lead after three innings.
For the game, K’Cee Osborn was 3-for-3 with her first home run of the season, two RBIs and two runs scored, Phillips was 2-for-2 with a double, four RBIs and a run scored, Abigail Leach tripled and scored twice and Price hit her second homer of the season and scored twice for Gans.
Yesenia Gaona (21) got the win in relief, going the final three innings with a strikeout. Phillips started and went the first two innings with a strikeout.
In the loss to Cameron, after the Lady Grizzlies cut their deficit to 3-2 in the third inning, the Lady Yellowjackets put away the game with a six-run third inning to take a 9-2 lead after three innings. After Gans cut the deficit to 9-4 in the fourth inning, Cameron’s threerun fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Leach was 3-for-3 with two runs batted in for Gans. Phillips took the loss.
