Funeral services for Joy Vann, 85, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mrs. Vann was born on Dec. 19, 1939, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Hallie (Wright) Cross and Harvey Guy Cross. She passed away on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025.
She married Kenneth Pryor Vann on Nov. 14, 1963, in Fort Smith. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 2002.
She worked as a bank teller at First Federal Bank in Fort Smith, and then worked with her husband, Ken, after he opened his State Farm Agency. She was also the former owner of Shadow Creek Golf Course, and a member of First Baptist Church in Sallisaw where she taught Sunday School.
Survivors are three sons, Brett Vann of Fort Smith, Shannon Vann and wife Cheryl of Sallisaw, and Wade Vann and wife Brandi of Roland; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers were Kyle Babirak, Logan Coatney, Nathan Vann, David Gean, Steve Sullivan, Jordan Long and Chris Hensley.
The Men of First Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.
