Funeral services for Freda (Farris) Hunter, 79, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Brushy Cemetery in Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mrs. Hunter was born on Feb. 12, 1945, in Myron, Ark., to the Mary Leota (Crouch) Farris and Henry William Farris. She passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025.
She married Rev. Raymond A. Hunter on Dec. 24, 1993, in Marble City. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2004.
She was a homemaker. Survivors are a sister, Marilyn Downing and Tom of Marble City; two brothers, Arbrie Farris and Janice of Marble City and Leroy Farris and Kathy of Bunch; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Farris; and three brothers, Alvie, Joel and Paul Farris.
Pallbearers were Timothy Farris, Thomas Farris, Tommy W. Downing, Terry Downing, Aaron Farris and Ryan Farris.
Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Farris and her nephews.
