Funeral services for Senior Master Sergeant Bobby Gene Owens, 89, of Roland, were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at First Assembly of God Church in Muldrow. Burial followed at Cottonwood Cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Owens was born on May 12, 1935, in Paw Paw to Leonard and Pearl Owensby Owens. He passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025 in Catoosa.
He married E. Mary Owens on May 27, 1964, in Tahlequah. She preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 2022.
He was a 1953 graduate of Muldrow High School and Veteran of the Korean War. He received his Bachelor and Master Degree from Northeastern State University, and attended the University of Tulsa. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Muldrow, and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign War and Muldrow VFW Post No. 8384.
He continued his military career with the 138th Tac Fighter Wing Intelligence in Tulsa, transferring to Air Force Intelligence Agency Reserve and retiring in 1992 as Senior Master Sergeant. He also retired from security at Saint Francis Hospital in 1995.
Survivors are a son, Patrick Owens and Cheryl of Broken Arrow; sister, Mildred Johnson of Fort Smith, Ark.; brother, Phillip Owens and Bethia of Muldrow.; and many other family members and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Owens; two sisters, Margaret Lee and Geneva Wilkins; and brother, Ted Owens.
Pallbearers were Patrick Owens, Gene Haddock, Brad Campbell and Chris Brashear.
