JOPLIN, Mo. — Former Muldrow Lady Bulldog Hannah Boyett and the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions lost 91-79 to the host Missouri Southern State Lions on Saturday afternoon at Leggett and Platt Athletic Center.
In a battle of Lions, it was the fourth quarter that doomed UAFS (8-5 overall, 2-2 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Association play) as MSSU (11-5, 3-1) used a 26-16 fourth quarter to win going away.
In defeat, Boyett scored five points, including a 3-point basket.
Through 13 games, Boyett, who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in July and had funds raised to aid her medi-cal expenses during Muldrow’s home games against Alma, Ark., on Dec. 6 at Roger Sharp Activity Center, us averaging seven points, a little more than two steals and just shy of two assists per game.
The UAFS Lions will return to action at 5:30 this evening to entertain Rogers State University at Stubblefield Center.
