HOWE — The Central High School basketball teams had a rough end to the pre-Christmas Break portion of the season as they were swept by Big 8 Conference foe Howe on Friday night at the Howe Gym.
The Lady Lions began the night with a 7336 win over the Lady Tigers, then the Lions tamed the Tigers 58-53.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Lions (7-3 overall, 2-0 in Big 8 Conference play) 21-13 after a period, then put away the game with a 22-6 second quarter to increase their advantage to 43-19 at halftime.
In defeat, Cambree Bair led the Lady Tigers (5-2, 0-1) with 15 points, followed by Haley Cheek with nine points, Hadlie Woods with five points, Ayrland Jiles with three points and Ryleigh Pierce and Paris Campbell with two points apiece.
In the boys’ contest, the Lions (5-5, 2-0) rallied from a 44-38 thirdquarter deficit with a 20-9 fourth period to snatch away the win from the jaws of defeat.
In defeat, the Tigers (4-3, 0-1) put four players into double figures, led by Gavin Randolph and Josh Brunk with 12 points each, while Hardy Buzzard and Aidan Sainer each added 11 points. Noah Buzzard scored four points, followed by Jake Woods with two points and Paitton Merrill with a free throw.
