Roland wrestlers begin inaugural season

The Roland Rangers wrestling team opened its inaugural season by facing the host Van Buren (Ark.) Pointers on Dec. 5 The Pointers prevailed 81-6.

The lone win for the Rangers (0-1 in duals this season) came on a pinfall win by Abram Nichols over Bryson Keirsey at 1:22 in the 215-pound match.

The Rangers had a little more success in the Okmulgee Bulldog Classic on Dec. 6-7, where three wrestlers placed.

Austin Foster and Drew Simpson were fifth, while Nichols was seventh.

The Rangers will return to action in the Coweta Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
