A total of 18 candidates filed for Board of Education seats at the Sequoyah County Election Board during the Dec. 2 -4 filing period.
If more than two candidates filed for the same Board of Education seat, a Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, February 11. If one candidate receives more than 50 percent of the votes, that candidate will be named the elected official.
If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the votes, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will vie for the seat during the Board of Education General Election on Tuesday, April 1.
If only two candidates file for the same Board of Education seat, those two candidates’ names will appear on the General Election ballot in April.
Declarations of Candidacy were filed for the following offices:

Central – Office No. 5 (5- year term), Roger Crawford and Sarah Adams.
Gans – Office No. 3 (3-year) unexpired, Rick Russell.
Gans -Office No. 5 (5year term), Jeremy H. Taylor and Johnathan Barger.
Gore – Office No. 5 (5-year term), Amanda H. Munson.
Liberty – Office No. 2 (3-year term), Cody Hyde.
Marble City – Office No. 3 (3-year term), Reba Rodgers.
Moffett -Office No. 2 (3-year term), Virginia Massey, Sylvester Carolina and Sarah F. Jones.
Muldrow – Office No. 5 (5-year term), Chad Sutton.
