WARNER — The Central High School basketball teams opened the 2024-25 season by getting road wins over the host Warner squads Friday night at Warner Event Center.
The Lady Tigers opened the night with a 42-34 victory over the Lady Eagles, then the Tigers clawed the Eagles 56-24.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Tigers (1-0) broke an 8-all tie after the opening period with a 10-7 second quarter to take a 18-15 lead at halftime. A 12-5 third quarter upped Central’s advantage to 30-20 entering the final period.
For the game, Cambree Bair scored a gamehigh 17 points and Haley Cheek added 10 points to lead Central, followed by Hadlie Woods with seven points, Ayrland Jiles with four points and Ryleigh Pierce and Paris Campbell with two points apiece.
In the boys’ game, the Tigers (1-0) led 15-9 after a quarter, 24-12 at halftime and 40-20 after three quarters.
For the game, the Tigers had a trio of players hit for double figures, led by Hardy Buzzard’s game-high 16 points, followed by Aidan Sainer’s 14 points and Josh Brunk’s 12 points. Noah Buzzard had six points, followed by Braxin Goodson’s four points and O’Dell Parker and Cale Stewart with two points apiece.
