The new basketball season for the Lady Grizzlies also will bring something else new — a new coach.
Jason Henry will take over the program after former coach Laney James took an assistant basketball coaching job at Fort Smith (Ark.) Southside.
Henry is inheriting a Lady Grizzlies team that went 7-15 last season.
The good news for Henry is he is having eight players from a season ago returning — featuring his lone senior, guard K’Cee Osburn.
Other returners back are junior guards Brighton Dorsey and Makenzy Hunter, sophomore guards Madi Pilkington, Stevie Pratt, Aaliyah Taylor, MaKinzie Humble and Amarys White.
The rest of the roster is comprised of freshmen Skylyn Bird, Yasenia Gaona, Addy Bibbs, Abigail Leach, Marie Silos and Maddie Freeman.
The Lady Grizzlies will begin the season at 6 p.m. Monday with a home Riverside Conference game against the Okay Lady Mustangs at Bryant “Big Country” Reeves Fieldhouse.
