An arrest warrant has been issued for a Sallisaw man charged with child sexual abuse in Sequoyah County District Court.
Jeremy K. Shuman Jr., 41, was charged on Oct. 30 and a warrant was issued for his arrest the same day, according to court records. His bond has been set at $25,000.
Sallisaw Police officer DeShawna Neff reported she met with the alleged victim and their mother on Sept. 14 at the police department. The alleged victim’s mother said Shuman had been sexually inappropriate with the child, who is under the age of 16. The mother went on to say after confronting Shuman, he gathered up some personal belongings and left.
On Sept. 24, Sallisaw Police Det. Jeff Craghead and Lt. Andrew Edwards attended a forensics interview with the alleged victim, where they stated the first incident happened on Sept. 15. Shuman reportedly gave the alleged victim a massage, telling the victim to remove their clothing, according to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case.
The following day, the alleged victim said Shuman had approached them about a relationship between the two, and the alleged victim said they tried to change the subject and returned to their residence. When the alleged victim entered their bedroom, Shuman followed them and completely undressed the alleged victim, according to the affidavit. Shuman kissed the alleged victim multiple times and then dressed the alleged victim in some clothes that he picked out for the alleged victim.
