A two-vehicle collision that occurred on Oct. 30 near Muldrow has claimed the life of a Muldrow man, according to an accident report released by Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Trooper Timothy Parrish #373 of the Traffic Homicide Unit said Byron Bell, 35, was pronounced deceased at Baptist Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark., by medical personnel following the accident.
Bell, a passenger in a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Leslie Johnson, 57, of Muldrow, was reportedly pinned for an unknown amount of time before being transported to the hospital by Pafford EMS.
Johnson was transported to Mercy Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition with head, trunk internal, and trunk external injuries.
According to the report, the accident happened just after 11 p.m. on S. 4740 Rd. and E. 1130 Rd., about one mile south of Muldrow, and the cause remains under investigation as of press time.
The collision also involved a 2002 Toyota Tundra driven by Sherry Bowlin, 46, who was ejected from her vehicle. However, Bowlin and her passenger, Brian Jones, 41, both of Muldrow, were reportedly uninjured.
Trooper Parrish was assisted by Lt Sheldon Dobbs #116 of Troop C, Trooper Spencer Schmille #353 of the Sequoyah County Detachment of Troop C, and Muldrow Fire Department.
