The Roland Rangers were able to take care of two things at once Thursday night at Ranger Stadium.
The Rangers not only got their first win of the 2024 season, but also got their first District 2AII-3 victory in dominating fashion with a 41-0 romp over the Okmulgee Bulldogs.
Billy McElhaney’s 15yard touchdown run with 5:32 remaining in the first quarter, plus his extra point, put the Rangers (1-3 overall, 1-0 in district play) ahead 7-0 after the opening period.
A 20-point second quarter pretty much put away the game as Damarion West scored on an 18-yard TD run, Austin Benham took it in from four yards out and Dalton Crossno rambled 28 yards to paydirt. McElhaney’s PATs after Benham’s and Crossno’s scores put Roland ahead 27-0 at halftime.
McElhaney scored his second TD of the night on a 19-yard run and hit the extra point for a 34-0 lead with 11:14 left in the third quarter.
Roland’s final score came on a 1-yard touchdown run by Cash Bobbitt with 6:38 left in the period. McElhaney’s PAT put the Rangers up 41-0.
After Bobbitt’s score, there was a running clock the rest of the way.
McElhaney rushed for 108 yards and scored two TDs, while Benham had a team-high 117 yards rushing and a touchdown.
The Rangers will return to action at 7 p.m. Friday with a district road game at Kiefer.
