Celebration of Life services for James Calvin, J.C., Haywood, 78, were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 at Blue Ribbon Fellowship Chapel in Sallisaw.
Cremation is under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home of Webb City, Mo. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
Mr. Haywood was born on Sept. 30, 1945, in Redland, to Calvin James Haywood and Dollie May England Haywood. He died on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at his home.
He was married to Terri Ann Shermer on Dec. 20, 1969.
He attended school in Gans. He worked as a valet at Blue Ribbon Downs, saddling horses in the paddock and tending to various riders tack. He later worked at American Limousine and Federal Coach until his retirement, where he served beside his wife in the church.
Survived are his wife, Terri, of the home; two sons, Justin Haywood and wife Julie of Sallisaw and Cyle Haywood and wife Megan of Lowell, Kan.; two daughters, Lesslie Horn-Sims, and Shila Horn Alvarez and husband Manuel, all of Muldrow; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Myrtle S. Woodward, Wanda DeCanter and Barbara J. Haywood; and two brothers, David Haywood and Jimmy L. Haywood.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
