WARNER — The host Warner Eagles fly high over the Central Tigers as they defeated the visitors from Sequoyah County by the score of 41-2 on Friday night.
The lone score for the Tigers (0-2) came in the second quarter when the Warner center snapped the ball over the punter and out of the end zone.
The Eagles (2-0) led 13-0 after a period and 19-2 at halftime, then they outscored the Tigers 22-0 in the second half.
“We had several turnovers,” Central coach Jeremy Thompson said. “We had a total of five turnovers on the night. We struggled offensively.”
Nathan Vann led the Tigers in receptions with two catches for 51 yards, then Keifer Bailey and Zhaiden Mosby each had a 15-yard reception. Quarterback Braxin Goodson rushed for a team-high 51 yards rushing on six carries and threw for 63 yards.
The Tigers will end their non-district slate at 7 p.m. Thursday as they welcome the Roland Rangers to Tiger Stadium.
“We’ve got to get things going this week,” Thompson said. “We’ve made several mistakes in areas where we have to correct those things — on both sides of the ball. The thing about it is, it’s not a matter of playing hard or effort. We have to correct some mistakes we’ve continued to make over the last couple of weeks. The No. 1 thing is to get the offense going this week. We need to put some points on the board. Once we do that, I think we’re going to be fine.”
