STIGLER — It was a rough day Thursday for the Gans Lady Grizzlies in the 2024 Riverside Conference Tournament at Stigler Sports Complex as they lost both games, losing 13-0 to McCurtain, then being eliminated from the tournament with a 10-1 loss to county rival Gore.
In the loss to Mc-Curtain, the Lady Grizzlies (5-10) were no-hit by McCurtain pitcher Abby Bales, who struck out five batters in three innings.
McCurtain scored eight runs in the first inning for an 8-0 lead. A five-run second inning put the game into runrule status.
Maddie Freeman (25) took the loss, despite fanning four batters in two innings, but she was the unfortunate pitcher as none of McCurtain’s runs were earned due to seven Gans errors.
In the loss to Gore, the Lady Grizzlies were two-hit by Cheyenne Davidson, who struck out five batters in four innings.
The Lady Pirates scored four runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning for a 7-0 lead after two innings.
The lone Gans run scored in the third inning on Gabbie Price’s RBI groundout, scoring Makinzie Kimble, to cut the deficit to 7-1, but the Lady Grizzlies got no closer.
Gore’s three-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Madi Pilkington was 2-for-2 for Gans.
Freeman took the loss, although she struck out four batters in three innings. Five of Gore’s runs scored on account of five Gans errors.
