Roland Lady Rangers go 2-1 last week

The Roland Lady Rangers went 2-1 last week to enter the Labor Day Holiday Weekend.

The Rangers won their District 3A-8 road game over Spiro by the score of 11-8, then capped the week with a 17-2 rout of the host Gore Lady Pirates on Thursday night.

The lone blemish last week was an 8-0 district road loss to Pocola on Aug. 27.

In the win over Spiro, the Lady Rangers (5-6 overall, 2-2 in District 3A-8 play) rallied from being down 8-6 after four innings as they scored a single run in the sixth inning and four runs in the seventh inning to get the come-from-behind victory.

For the game, Ariana Acevedo was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a run batted in, Addyson Clark doubled with three RBIs and two runs scored, Adriana Moya doubled and scored twice, Jordyn Bean doubled with an RBI and a run scored and Lilly Cole doubled with three RBIs and a run scored for Roland.

McKinna Cooper (46) got the win, getting five strikeouts in seven innings.

In the victory over Gore, after the Lady Pirates took a 2-1 lead after an inning, the Lady Rangers scored four runs in the second inning and a run in the third inning for a 6-2 lead after three innings. An 11-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Jordyn Bean was 3-for-4 with two doubles, five runs batted in and a run scored, Moya was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, Clark was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, Kyleigh Knapp was 2-for-2 with two solo home runs and three runs scored, Cooper was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, Laynie Roedenbeck was 2-for-2 with three runs scored, Jaydance Bean doubled with two RBIs and a run scored and Cole doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Roland.

Cooper got the win, throwing a four-inning three-hitter.

In the loss to Pocola, the Pocola pitching combination of Allyssa Parker and Kyleigh Combs combined to two-hit the Lady Rangers. Parker got the win, going the first four innings with eight strikeouts, then Combs went the final inning with two Ks.

The Lady Indians scored once in the first inning, four runs in the third inning and twice in the fourth inning for a 7-0 lead. A run in the fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Moya and Clark each singled for Roland’s two hits.

Cooper suffered the loss, despite fanning three batters in 4.2 innings.
