With the arrival of a new fast-pitch softball season will come a new coach for the Roland Lady Rangers as Alibis Ramos will take over the program for Mason Wiggins.
Ramos, who was an assistant coach for Wiggins last fall, will inherit a team that went 9-18 in the fall of 2023.
The good news is the Lady Rangers will return four starters from last fall’s team — junior shortstop Addyson Clark (who led the team in hitting last fall with a .307 batting average), junior catcher Jaydance Bean, sophomore outfielder Lilly Cole and sophomore pitcher/infielder Kyleigh Knapp.
Half the roster will be comprised of freshmen — second baseman Adriana Moya, third baseman Jordyn Bean, pitcher/infielder McKinna Cooper, catcher/ outfielder Paisley Davis and first baseman/outfielder Layhnie Roedenbeck.
Junior outfielder Ariana Acevedo rounds out the roster.
“We will have a mixture of a young team full of five freshmen mixed with two sophomores and three juniors,” Ramos said. “The team has the make-up of being a pretty good team. As the year progresses, the potential is there to be even better. With a good group of returning players to lead, the new players should adapt to the high school game as the year goes along. I’m excited to see what this team is going to do.”
