The Sequoyah County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, at their museum, located at 200 East Creek in Sallisaw.
Earl Strebeck will present a pictorial program about the “Old Houses of Sallisaw.” He will tell about the people who built the houses and the major events of their lives.
Many of the great old houses of Sallisaw no longer exist; torn down for future development and fires have erased all but memories of where they once stood. Each year takes a toll.
Strebeck said he hopes that his program will help to preserve the old houses that have survived.
A reception will follow the meeting, hosted by Peggy Morley and Lovona Shoemaker.
The public is invited to attend. For more information, call Strebeck at 918-775-6281.
