Throughout the remainder of the year, Cherokee Nation will be hosting several citizenship registration and photo ID field events across the reservation with a few at large events scheduled. Two events will be held in Sequoyah County in September.
“We want to invite all Cherokee Nation citizens who need an updated photo ID to join us for one of these field events,” said Cherokee Nation Deputy Secretary of State Canaan Duncan. “We understand not everyone can make the drive to Tahlequah to our tribal complex, so we are taking our Registration Department services out to our communities for convenience.”
Citizenship registration and photo ID field events are scheduled throughout the remainder of the year, leading into 2025. Citizens who wish to come should bring an up-to-date driver’s license or other government photo ID. Cherokee Vote along with other Cherokee Nation programs and services will also be in attendance.
For timely processing, citizens should submit the necessary paperwork no later than 30 minutes prior to close of an event. Applications submitted after that time may be subject to increased wait times. Time, date and location for the local events are as follows.
• 9/12 – Gore, Gore High School Cafeteria. 3 to 7 p.m.
• 9/13 – Roland, Roland Casino 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 3 to 7 p.m.
Locations and event times are subject to change and will be updated through Cherokee Nation social media.
“All of Administration and our Tribal Councilors are so thankful for the hard work that our Registration Department puts in every single day,” said Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner. “This group represents the physical strength of our nation which is over 450,000 citizens strong. Please take some time to come out and join us and be part of the Nation you’re helping to build up.”
