The Roland Public Schools Board of Education met on July 17 where the board members voted to approve several different contracts and new hires during their regular monthly meeting.
Following a presentation from Coryell Roofing, the board voted to accept a milk bid from Highland Dairy and approved school organization fundraisers as listed.
The board also accepted the resignation of Austin Cantrell, and the number of transfer students in each grade level, at each school site, to meet the July 2024 reporting window. A renewal agreement was approved with Oklahoma School Assurance Group for workers comp, as well as an agreement for school resource officers and with Arbiter Sports, for the upcoming school year.
Superintendent Lori Wiggins gave the board a rundown on the construction of the gym floor, as well as other projects that are expected to be completed in the near future.
The board members convened into an executive session at 6:58 p.m. to discuss on whether or not to hire new employees for the 2024-35 school year. Upon returning to open session at 7:23 p.m., it was announced that no official votes or action was taken during the session.
Motions were then made and approved on the hiring of Monica King as a paraprofessional, Matt Farris as a geography teacher, Samantha Nichols as a history teacher, Jonathan Moore as a math teacher, and Justin Harvey as elementary staff.
All financial matters were also unanimously approved by the board members.
