POTEAU — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is offering a free fiveweek series of classes designed to enhance relationships with community members by familiarizing participants with the OSBI and its policies and practices.
Citizen’s Academy is intended show participants firsthand the daily responsibilities and expectations of OSBI agents and staff, not to train citizens to become agents.
Participants ask questions, discuss issues and view demonstrations. Upon completion of Citizen’s Academy, participants will have a clearer understanding of the duties, responsibilities and community interaction expected from OSBI agents so they can share their knowledge with others in the community.
Topics for Citizen’s Academy include major crime investigations, internet crimes against children, forensic science, polygraph and much more.
Classes are 6 to 9 p.m. each Thursday in August (Aug. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29) at the Poteau Chamber of Commerce, located in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center.
For questions or to register for the free Citizen’s Academy, contact Capt. Adam Whitney at 918-423-6886 or adam. whitney@osbi.ok.gov.
