The Lions’ Den School of Self Defense competed in the Oklahoma Tatakai tournament in Stillwater on June 8. A total of 14 students attended the event, which was hosted by True Power Martial Arts Academy.
According to Sensei Jake Odom, the students all fought their hearts out and many received medals, along with five students receiving special wood swords from the host of the tournament for their sportsmanship, courage, strength, etc.
Those competing and/or receiving awards included: Israel Carney, Ethan Holthusen, Jamie Fawver – 3rd Place Sparring, Brandy Fawver – 2nd Place Sparring Special Wood Sword, Austin Richardson, Grayson Odom – Special Wood Sword, Lily Odom – 2nd Place Sparring Special Wood Sword, Kellen Crowder – 2nd Place Sparring – Special Wood Sword, Trevor Richardson, Liam Brovin – Special Wood Sword, Kaya Odom, Hannah Breedlove – 2nd Place Sparring, Kaden Carney – 1st Place Sparring, and Adult Student Zachary Fawver – 1st Place Grand Champion Adult Underbelts.
