A Sallisaw man was reportedly struck by a motorist last Wednesday afternoon after he jumped into traffic with his hands in the air, according to accident report issued by the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Steven Crooks said Suzette Frazier, 64, of Sallisaw, was driving a 2014 Cadillac SRX on state Highway 101 about three miles north of Sallisaw when Joseph Crowley allegedly jumped out in front of her vehicle.
Crooks said Crowley, 26, was walking eastbound in the south ditch when he jumped north into the center of the eastbound lanes with his hands in the air facing west. Frazier then struck Crowley with the center of her vehicle, and then pulled to a controlled stop.
Crowley was transported by Survival Flight to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa with leg and head injuries, where he was admitted in fair condition.
Crooks was assisted by Troopers Bryce Earls, Spencer Schmille and Kyle Henson; Sequoyah County Sheriff ’s Office, Brushy Fire Department, Akins Fire Department and Pafford EMS.
