Also threatens to kill reporting party’s dogs
A Muldrow teen is facing a felony charge of animal cruelty after allegedly stabbing a chicken and killing it.
Colton Dieter, 18, was charged April 10 in Sequoyah County District Court and received a $10,000 bond. He is now set for a May 22 felony disposition docket with Associate District Judge Kyle Waters.
Sequoyah County deputy Cody Parkerson said he was dispatched to S. 4760 Road on April 3 in reference to animal cruelty where he met with the reporting party.
The reporting party said they received a text message from Dieter, asking if the reporting party would press charges against him (Dieter) if he killed the reporting party’s chickens. Dieter then told the reporting party that he “would end them all” if the reporting party made him mad again, and said “he hated the chickens anyway,” according to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case.
Dieter also told the reporting party that “he would end the reporting party’s dogs’ lives, too,” so the reporting party “had better watch them.” The reporting party said they then arrived home from work to find a chicken dead in the chicken coop with a slash wound to its chest.
Authorities found Dieter at a location where he reportedly told the officer’s he “had lost it” at the reporting party’s house. He was then taken into custody and agreed to speak with police.
According to the affidavit, Dieter said he was angry at the reporting party for not paying him to mow the reporting party’s yard, so he went into the chicken coop and stabbed the chicken in the chest with a spear he’d made. He claimed he observed the chicken for several minutes but never saw it die, but hoped that it did.
The spear was found with a black feather on it and taken into evidence, while Dieter was taken to the Sequoyah County Detention Center and booked in on his charge.
District Attorney Jack Thorp said if found guilty of the charge, Dieter could face a fine of up to $5,000 or imprisonment for up to five years, or both.
