The postseason has arrived for our local track teams as they will be in their respective regional track meets. They originally were slated for last Saturday, but due to the threat of severe weather were moved to Monday of this week.
The Central, Vian and Gore teams will be in the Class 2A Regional Meet at Okemah, while Webbers Falls will be at the Class A Regional Meet at Okemah.
All total, each class was slated to have four regional track meets throughout the state Monday.
At each regional meet, the top three individuals and relay teams automatically will qualify for state.
Then, each regional meets’ fourth- through seventh-place finisher will be grouped together, and the next four highest times and distances, including ties, will receive at-large berths to next weekend’s state meets. The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) should have the announcement of the atlarge state track meet qualifiers by no later than either Tuesday morning or today.
The Class A-2A State Meet will happen Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma City Western Heights High School.
Editor’s Note: Look for the story about the regional and/or state meets in next week’s edition.
