Last week, students from Belfonte, Brushy, Liberty, Marble City, and Moffett Public Schools participated in The Rural Schools Wellness Event. Students learned about tobacco prevention, handwashing skills, cell phone addiction, played cornhole, and played chunkey and made fruit smoothies by riding smoothie bikes. The Native Chef was the lunch guest, and every student participated in a hands-on cooking demonstration making bison tacos. The afternoon was then spent viewing the eclipse. Thanks goes out to the event’s sponsors: Cherokee Nation Public Health, People Inc., Oklahoma State Department of Health, Sequoyah County OSU Extension, Sallisaw NOW Coalition, and TSET Healthy Living Program.
