The Gans Lady Grizzlies softball team saw its 2024 slow-pitch softball season come to a close at Wednesday’s Class 2A District Tournament at Strother High School near Seminole, losing 20-5 to Stonewall and 18-0 to district-host Strother.
The week started with a 3-1 home loss to Webbers Falls on April 15 and a 15-1 road loss to Keota on April 16.
The Lady Grizzlies ended the season at 0-12.
In the loss to Stonewall, the Lady Longhorns erupted for 12 runs in the third inning to go from being down 3-1 after an inning to leading 13-3 in the third inning. A seven-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Gabbie Price was 2-for-2 and scored twice for Gans.
Raina Gaona took the loss, going the first 3.1 innings. Brianna Burris got the last two outs of the game.
In the loss to host Strother, the Lady Grizzlies were three-hit, with Price, Melania Paniagua and Taniya Jones each singling.
Burris took the loss, only lasting two-thirds of the opening inning. Gaona went the rest of the way.
In the loss to Webbers Falls, the Lady Warriors broke a scoreless tie with single runs in the second, third and fourth innings for a 3-0 lead, as the lone run for the Lady Grizzlies scored in the sixth inning.
In defeat, Makenzy Hunter doubled, while Price and Stevie Pratt each singled for Gans. Gaona took the loss.
