PORUM — The 2024 baseball season came to an end for the Gans Grizzlies on Wednesday at the Class A District Tournament after losing 5-4 to Arkoma and 10-0 to district-host Porum.
The regular-season ended with a 9-3 road loss to Leflore on April 15.
In the loss to Arkoma, the Mustangs, who trailed 3-1 in the fourth inning, took the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning and a single run in the fifth inning for a 5-3 lead. The Grizzlies cut the deficit to 5-4 in the sixth inning but got no closer.
In defeat, Josh Brunk singled with a run scored and a run batted in, Ashton Langston singled and scored once and Nakota White, Hunter Walters and Brenen Strickland all singled for Gans.
Walters suffered the loss in defeat, going the final five innings with six strikeouts but allowing four of the final five runs, with three of those runs earned. Clay Martinez pitched the first inning with a strikeout.
In the loss to Porum, Porum pitcher Gage Scarberry threw a onehitter, with that hit being a double by Walters, with nine Ks.
White took the loss, lasting only 1.2 innings as he gave up nine runs, eight of them earned, on nine hits. Martinez got the final five outs, two of which came by strikeout.
