Two Roland High School athletes were awarded an honor apiece last week.
Lady Ranger senior basketball player Lilly Medicine Bird was named to the 2024 Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State Team, while Ranger senior basketball player Carson Wiggins was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association Class 3A All-Star-by-Class List — making the Arkansas baseball signee a candidate for the OCA East All-State Team for the 2024 All-State Boys Basketball Game in late July.
Medicine Bird, who originally was an OGBCA All-State alternate but got the call Thursday night that she made All-State status, and the Lady Rangers finished the 2023-24 season with a record of 20-7 and made it to the Class 3A State Tournament last month, where they lost 45-37 to Norman Community Christian School in the state quarterfinals. The 2024 OGBCA All-State Games will take place the first weekend of June.
Wiggins and the Rangers finished this past season with a record of 21-6 and made it to the Class 3A Area Tournament consolation semifinals.
