The Roland Rangers baseball team went 1-2 last week, opening the week with a district split with Tulsa Victory Christian — winning 3-2 on April 1 in Tulsa, but losing 5-1 at home April 2 — before ending the week with a 6-5 road loss to Hulbert on Thursday.
In the district road win over Victory Christian, the Rangers (6-10 overall, 2-6 in district play) rallied for the win with a threerun sixth inning after trailing 2-0 after five innings.
For the game, Carson Wiggins, an Arkansas signee, was 2-for-4 with a run scored for Roland.
Ashton Peters (1-2) got his first win of the season, going all seven innings with six strikeouts and throwing a five-hitter.
In the district home loss to Victory Christian, the Conquerors avenged their home district loss to the Rangers.
After the Rangers broke a scoreless deadlock with a run in the fifth inning, the Conquerors scored twice in the sixth inning and three runs in the seventh innings to get the comeback victory.
In defeat, Paden Pitts was 2-for-3 with a run batted in, Ashton Peters was 2-for-3 with a double, Colton Peters was 2-for-3, Drew Simpson was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Alex Brant doubled for Roland.
Wiggins (1-2) suffered the loss, despite striking out 15 batters in six innings. Brant pitched the seventh inning with a strikeout.
In Thursday’s loss to Hulbert, the Riders scored once in the first inning and four runs in the second inning for a 5-0 lead. The Rangers cut their deficit to 5-4 with a four-run third inning but got no closer.
In defeat, Ashton Peters was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, while Wiggins doubled with two RBIs and a run scored for Roland.
Pitts (2-2) took the loss, lasting just 1.1 innings. Brant went the final 4.2 innings with five strikeouts.
After playing a home district doubleheader against Heavener on Tuesday, the Rangers will end the week by playing in the Central Tiger Shootout from Thursday through Saturday. They will begin next week with backto- back district games against Westville, at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Westville and at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at home.
