For those of you wondering what happened to the snake living underneath my kitchen cabinets that I wrote about last week, I think he’s still there. I haven’t seen him, but then again, I haven’t been looking for him either.
I purchased one of those grabber things that I have been using to get a few items out with (trash bags and dish soap), and figured anything else under there could be replaced. I have no desire to go rummaging through my kitchen cabinets with a possible snake slithering around down there.
I finally decided to call the snake Diddy. I figure if Diddy and I could live in perfect harmony together, we could benefit from each other’s company. Then I realized Diddy wasn’t doing his part. Diddy doesn’t help pay the rent, so he should go.
Plus, following several recommendations to put moth balls under my cabinets, I purchased four boxes and threw all four underneath, waiting to see if they worked. Once again, I’ve not seen Diddy exit so I can’t confirm it did. However, everything in my kitchen now smells like moth balls and so does the rest of my house.
Since the cats haven’t spotted Diddy either, I moved all but two of them back outside. Early the next morning during my “it’s still dark and I have to check the floor for snakes” bathroom check, I saw something of concern. It turned out to be a dead mouse. I guess the cats are earning their keep more than Diddy is.
After not getting much sleep this past week, I decided to take an extra melatonin. I cuddled up in bed with one of the cats and slept harder than I had in some time.
The next morning, I had another surprise and Diddy had nothing to do with it. I heard meowing and after fully getting my eyes open, the cat was lying beside me with five newborn kittens. So much for peace and quiet.
And how was your week?
