Sequoyah County Commissioners signed two proclamations following their weekly meeting last Monday, declaring the month of April as Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month. Also present for the signing was Sequoyah County Sheriff Larry Lane (far right) along with other investigators and deputies, members of the Sequoyah County CCR/SART team, courthouse officials, and community members. Events planned by the Sequoyah County CCR/SART for Sexual Assault Awareness Month include: April 15 – Sexual Violence, Rape Culture and Victim Blaming, 6 p.m. via Zoom; April 22 – Sexual Violence, Rape Culture and Victim Blaming, 6 p.m. via Zoom; April 24 – Denim Day (all day); April 25 – Glow Stick Walk at 8 p.m. at the Sallisaw Sports Complex walking trail; and April 29 – Effects of Domestic Abuse on Children, 6 p.m. via Zoom.
