In about an hour long meeting held on March 11, the Roland Board of Education accepted the resignation of a paraprofessional and tabled hiring someone new for the position, along with an open coaching position.
Board president Jerry Brooks introduced a motion to accept the resignation of Jacinda Peters, a para at the lower elementary, effective March 15. The motion was unanimously approved by all members present.
Superintendent Lori Wiggins then recommended entering an executive session to discuss employment opportunities. No official votes or actions were taken during the executive session, and the board returned to open session at 6:55 p.m., according to meeting minutes.
Board vice president Kevin Flurry proposed tabling the hiring of a para at the lower elementary, which was approved unanimously. Additionally, Brooks suggested tabling the hiring of a coaching position, with all board members voting in favor.
In financial matters, Brooks moved to approve various fund encumbrances, payroll and monthly activity reports for the 2023-24 school period. The motion was unanimously approved with detailed amounts provided for General Fund, Building Fund and Co-Op Fund encumbrances.
The meeting proceeded to the administrator’s report, where Superintendent Wiggins highlighted upcoming events, which included Parent-Teacher Conferences on March 14 and spring break from March 15 to 22.
