Well, Sequoyah County District 2 Commissioner Beau Burlison and District 3 Commissioner Jim Rogers are still in search of dump trucks.
At the county commissioners’ weekly meeting last Tuesday, the only bid received for dump trucks was rejected because it did not meet specifications outlined in the request for bid.
“We did get a bid and it was outside of the specs,” Burlison told his colleagues. “We need to possibly send out to a few more vendors and see if we can get some more options.
“I know you’re in need and I’m in need of some dump trucks, and that’s pretty much the long and the short of it,” he told Rogers.
Specifications for the dump trucks call for 2015 or newer with 400,000 miles or less, tri-axle with automatic transmission and a minimum 15-yard dump bed.
There’s apparently not a dump truck shortage for District 1 Commissioner Ray Watts, however. The commissioners approved a contract agreement for shale by and between Hicks Construction (B.J. Hicks) and District 1.
“He’s got a shale pit and we’re fixing to do that bridge, so we’re gonna be buying a lot of shale off of him, instead of hauling it from Nicut,” Watts said.
“And he gets that at $8 a load, which is cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap,” Rogers added.
In other business, the commissioners approved: • A lease agreement by and between KRL Holdings of Vian and Sequoyah County Mental Health Court and Sequoyah County Community Sentencing. The commissioners’ approval is pending approval by the district attorney.
• Surplussing and donating the following items from Sequoyah County Emergency Management to Sequoyah County Fire Training Center: chairs, office tables, podium, desks and office equipment.
