The Muldrow VFW Auxiliary 8384 is sponsoring three youth contests all due by 2 p.m., Thursday, March 28, at the school office, Muldrow Public Library, or the Muldrow VFW Post 8384 located on Wilson Rock Road.
2-D And 3-D Patriotic Art Contest
This has two areas of entry and is for students in public, private, online or home schooled in grades 9-12. The 2-D art is watercolor, pencil, pastel, charcoal, tempera, crayon, acrylic, pen, ink, oil, marker or other media. Canvas entries need to be on stretcher frame or canvas board and not framed. Other entries can be matted but not with a color mat. An explanation of the entry can be submitted but limited to 250 words. The Artist name cannot be on the art work or explanation or back of art anywhere or it will be disqualified. If the American Flag is used it must conform to the Federal Flag Code in relation to colors, number of stars, and stripes and other pertinent rules of the code. Digital art and photography are not accepted. The maximum awarded to winners at National level is 1st place, $15,000; 2nd place $7,500; 3rd place $3,500; 4th and 5th place $1,500; 6th and 7th place $1,000; and 8th-19th place $500. There are also monetary awards at local and state levels for the 1st-3rd place winners.
The 3-D entries must be three dimensional and not larger than 18 inches in any direction or more than 5 pounds in weight. The entries may be paper, paper machè, pottery, sculpture, fabric, wood, metalwork, etc. An explanation of the piece can accompany entry not to exceed 250 words. The same use of the American Flag restriction in 2-D apply to 3-D entries. NOT accepted are digital art, photography, weapons, art generated by a 3-D printer and jewelry. The same restrictions of no name on the 3-D entry applies like 2-D art. The prizes at National level are 1st place $2,500, 2nd place $1,500, 3rd place $1,000 and 4th place $500. There are monetary awards at local and state levels for the 1st-3rd places.
All art entries must be completed by student and have a parent or guardians signature or entries will be disqualified.

Illustrating America
Is an art contest for K-8th grades and broken into 3 categories: K-2 grades, 3-5 grades and 6-8 grades. All art is 2 dimensional, not framed between 8”x10” to 18”x24” in size. Mediums used can be watercolor, pencil, pastel, charcoal, tempera, crayon, acrylic, pen, ink, oil, glitter, marker or other media. Local awards will be given to 1-3 place winners in each age group and 1st place winners will advance onto state competition. National winners will receive 1st place, $100 gift card; 2nd place, $50 gift card; and 3rd place $25 gift card in all three age groups. Sing Red, White and Blue
This is a vocal rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner and it is a video recording. The student shall state name, age and grade level prior to vocal performance. They may sing a cappella, with backing tracks or instruments and in the arrangement and genre of their choice. The student MAY NOT change the words or lip sync. A completed entry form with the parent or guardian signature must be submitted with each entry. There are 2 categories: Grades K-8 and Grades 9-12. Local awards will be given for places 1-3 in each category. At National level 1st place is $500 gift card; 2nd place $300 gift card and 3rd place is $200 gift card in both categories. The first place winners will advance to District, if District judging is held, and the first place from District/local on to State competition.
