For lewd or indecent acts to a child, child neglect

A Roland man has pleaded guilty to four felony counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under the age of 16 and one felony count of child neglect after Roland Police received a report of alleged sexual abuse of a 9-year-old child.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday by District 27 District Attorney Jack Thorp, Stephen Oxford, 30, pled guilty to his charges.

Roland Police reported Oxford was arrested on March 22, 2023, after officers received a report of the alleged sexual abuse of the child.

A family member of the child reported the alleged abuse after videos were discovered showing Oxford engaged in inappropriate behavior with the victim.

“It is heartbreaking when children are victimized, especially by people they should be able to trust,” Thorp said. “I am thankful that these criminal acts were brought to light before further abuse could happen.”

Oxford was sentenced to 25 years in the Department of Corrections, followed by an additional 30 years of supervised probation.
