The City of Roland has announced the passing of their vice mayor, Roger Johnson, who died on Feb. 1.

Described as a pillar of the community, Johnson dedicated his life to public service, leaving an indelible mark on the City of Roland and Sequoyah County. He had served on the Board of Trustees since 2017, serving in the role of mayor from 2019-21 and vice mayor from 2023 until his passing.

Beyond his political roles, Johnson has also served as a Sequoyah County Sheriff ’s Deputy since 2009 and was the School Resource Deputy for Moffett Schools for the last year and a half, exemplifying his dedication to maintaining law and order within our community.
