A Roland man pleaded guilty last Monday in Sequoyah County District Court and was sentenced to 30 years in prison after distributing fentanyl to a Vian man, who then reportedly died from an overdose.
According to the original probable cause affidavit filed in the case, Jordan K. Miller, 28, sold pills containing a fatal amount of fentanyl to Gavin Kemper, 30, of Vian. Kemper reportedly drove to Van Buren, Ark., to purchase the pills from Miller.
Kemper was then found deceased a short time later by his father.
The Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Kemper and determined that fentanyl toxicity was the cause of death, according to a press release issued by District 27 District Attorney Jack Thorp.
“We are committed to fighting the spread of this deadly drug,” Thorp said.
“My office will continue to work with law enforcement and people across this district to prosecute those responsible for spreading this poison through our communities.”
Miller was charged with two counts of distribution of controlled dangerous substance/ possession with intent to distribute and one count of unlawful use of communication facility.
