The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that Terry J. Dunnavent, 38, of Sallisaw, has entered a guilty plea to one count of felon in possession of a firearm.
The indictment alleged that on Jan. 3, 2023, Dunnavent was found in possession of a 9mm semi-automatic pistol after having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment exceeding one year.
The charge arose from an investigation by the Sallisaw Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The Honorable Judge Jason A. Robertson, Magistrate Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. Dunnavent will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
