Roland boys win fourth straight NEO Tournament title

MIAMI — The Roland Running Rangers basketball team captured its fourth consecutive Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Tournament title after they got past the Claremore Zebras 63-59 in the title game Saturday night.

The Running Rangers made it to the finals with a 53-47 win over Chouteau-Mazie in Thursday’s opener, then got past Carthage, Mo., 55-49 in Friday night’s semifinals.

In Saturday’s title game, the Running Rangers (15-1) trailed 32-31 at halftime, but they outscored the Zebras 32-27 in the second half to get the comefrom- behind win. For the game, DaVohn Hall scored a game-high 23 points to lead Roland, followed by Mason Kemp with eight points, Paul Johnson, Mason Wiggins and Raesean Perryman with seven points each, Cason Perryman with five points and Buck Triplett and Kayden Hartt with three points apiece.

In Friday night’s semifinal victory, the Running Rangers rallied from a 28-25 halftime deficit by outscoring Carthage 30-21 in the second half.

For the game, Wiggins scored a game-high 22 points and Hall added 20 to lead Roland, followed by Kemp with five points, Raesean Perryman with four points and Johnson and Kade Shook with two points apiece.

In Thursday’s opening- round win, the Run-ning Rangers doubled the Wildcats 1206 in the first quarter en route to a 30-16 halftime advantage. The ’Cats outscored the Running Rangers 31-19 in the second half, but the rally fell short.

For the game, Hall scored a game-high 18 points and Wiggins added 11 points to lead Roland, followed by Kemp with nine points, Johnson with six points, Raesean Perryman with four points, Triplett with three points and Cason Perryman with two points.
