Funeral services for Johnny Walters, 78, were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow. Burial followed at Seabolt Cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Walters was born on Aug. 5, 1945, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Flossie Mae (Searatt) Walters and Perry Ray Walters. He died on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, in Fort Smith.
He was married to Carolyn Sue Springwater on Nov. 2, 1967, in Gans.
He was a building contractor and U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a member of Copic Missionary Baptist Church in Nicut, where he was a song leader and Sunday School teacher for many years.
Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Sue (Springwater) Walters of the home; three children, Johna Beckham, Kelly Epley (and Jimi), and Daniel Walters (and Danna); six grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Buford Walters, Eura Polecat, Eunice London, Ruth Kimble, Joann Mooney and Janie Henson.
Pallbearers were Levi Kramer, Cooper Epley, Spencer Walters, Alex Seabolt, Jimi Epley and Lance Lewis.
