Muldrow Public School’s Board of Education gathered for their regular monthly meeting on Dec. 11, where the board took care of several agenda items and voted to renew the school superintendent contract for the 2024-25 school year.
The board begun by approving numerous consent agenda items, which included previous meeting minutes, the resignation of Lacy Cathey, and various financial matters.
Superintendent Clifta Fugett, during her report, provided updates on the December calendar, annual school election filings, and shared information regarding the upcoming Sequoyah County Tournament Bracket.
The board then went into an executive session to discuss the reemployment of Fugett, in compliance with Title 25 O.S. Section 307 (B-1), which lasted about 30 minutes.
Following their return to open session, board president Chad Sutton stated that during the executive session, the board discussed the item listed on the agenda for the executive session, and all present members participated.
Sutton then made a motion, followed by a second motion from Darin Huggins, to renew Fugett’s contract for the 2024-25 school year. The motion carried unanimously, according to meeting minutes.
Also unanimously ap- proved by the board during the meeting were:
• Entering into a contract with Larry Edwards for maintenance labor and substitute bus driving for the 2023-24 school year
• Changes to several district policies, including DPB, FE, FFFD, FMFE, FNCD-E, and FNCD-P
• The Return to School Plan, aimed at accommodating requirements for ESSER III funding
• School personnel attendance at the National After School Association Conference in Dallas, Texas, scheduled for March 17-20, 2024, as part of a required component for the District’s 21st Century grant
• Fund transfers from the football concession to various accounts, including Athletic, Band Booster, Basketball Booster, High School Cheerleaders, and High School Boys Basketball.
No new business was discussed, with the meeting adjourning at 5:49 p.m.
