The Gans Lady Grizzlies, who were 8-15 last season, will be an experienced squad for this season, which started with a Monday night road Riverside Conference game at Okay.
The Lady Grizzlies return four starters from a season ago — three of them are seniors, guards Reina Gaona and Brianna Burris and forward Melania Paniagua. The fourth starter is junior guard K’Cee Osburn.
The roster is rounded out by juniors Mafe Reis and Melody Le, sophomores Destiny Phillips, Brighton Dorsey and Makenzy Hunter and freshmen Madison Pilkington, Stevie Pratt, Jeressa Pettit, Aaliyah Taylor, MaKinzie Kimble and Amarys White.
“We will be quicker on defense, and more aggressive,” said Gans girls coach Laney James, entering her third year at the helm. “Our offense is looking strong with more chances to score at the bucket. Overall, we are excited for this season and ready to play hard and improve every day.”
James said her team’s strengths will be the fact that four of the five starters have experience and quickness, as well as having a deeper bench.
The Lady Grizzlies will begin their season at 6 p.m. Monday with a road Riverside Conference game at Okay.
