The Gans Grizzlies will look to improve upon last season’s 7-13 mark when the 2023-24 basketball season commences, which it did with a Monday road game against Riverside Conference foe Okay.
The Grizzlies return four starters, three of them seniors — guards Nakota White, Mayson Clifton and Ashton Langston. The fourth returning starter is sophomore Josh Brunk.
Rounding out the roster are juniors Jarrett Frazier and Caiden Kennedy, sophomores Bryce Stevens, Harley Strahm, Aiden Garcia, Jessie Phillips, Daniel Crase, Gabriel Christopherson and Leland Locust and freshmen Jackson Ragsdale, Jaxon England and Garrett Overby.
“We will be quicker on defense, and more deliberate on offense,” said Gans boys coach Brian Morton, beginning his third season as coach. “We will have a more disciplined offense that will help us compete against some of the opponents we fell short against.”
Morton said his team’s strengths are having four returning starters with experience and quickness as well as a deeper bench.
However, youthwillplaya factor this season as 11 of the 17 players on the roster are either sophomores or freshmen.
“We have some young players that will have to step up in big roles,” Morton said.
The Grizzlies will begin their season at 7:30 p.m. Monday with a road game against Riverside Conference foe Okay.
