HENRYETTA — The Roland Rangers came up short in their District 2A-5 road game Friday night, losing 46-6 to the host Henryetta Black Knights.
The Black Knights (5-4 overall, 3-3 in district play) scored 13 points in the opening period for a 13-0 lead, which it stayed until halftime.
Henryetta then scored the first two touchdowns of the third quarter to up its advantage to 25-0.
The Rangers (1-8, 0-6), who have now lost eight straight after opening the season with their “Battle of 64” win over Muldrow to open the season, finally scored on a 23-yard TD pass from Logen Thomas to Tyler Crossno with 1:58 left in the period to cut their deficit to 25-6 entering the final quarter, but that was as close as Roland got.
Crossno led Roland in rushing yards with 96 yards, while Thomas threw for 153 yards and the lone touchdown. Cash Bobbitt caught two passes for 52 yards, while Crossno had two receptions for 50 yards.
