The Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library will host a solar eclipse party from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14. Free eclipse glasses will be provided while supplies last.
On Oct. 14 an annular solar eclipse will cross North America. An annular solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and Earth while it is at its farthest point from Earth. The sun is never completely covered. It is never safe to look directly at the sun without specialized eye protection. The library will be giving out 100 eclipse glasses. The eclipse will be visible starting at 10:24 a.m., it will reach its maximum at 11:52 a.m. and it will end at 1:26 p.m.
