Muldrow Lady Bulldogs beat Sallisaw, Checotah, fall to Stigler in district games

The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs went 2-1 in their three district softball games last week, beating Sallisaw 8-3 in a game that started Sept. 19, got suspended by rain and was then completed Thursday as well as downing Checotah 6-5 in eight innings last Wednesday.

The wins capped off a week in which the Lady Bulldogs fell 16-1 to Stigler on Sept. 18.

In the win over Sallisaw, the game got suspended as the Lady Bulldogs (11-14 overall, 3-8 in district play) came to bat in the fourth inning ahead 5-1. When the game resumed Thursday afternoon, the Lady Bulldogs scored three runs in the fifth inning on Raya Keenan’s tworun double and Danica Tune’s RBI single for an 8-1 lead.

For the game, Amarie Duran was 3-for-3 with two doubles two runs batted in and a run scored, Tune was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and an Rbi, Ashley Price was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Jaydin Dean was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Kaydence Young doubled with three RBIs and a run scored and Keenan her a two-run double and scored once for Muldrow.

Dean got the win, getting five strikeouts in six innings. Young pitched the final inning with a strikeout.

In the win over Checotah, the Lady Bulldogs broke a 5-all tie on Young’s two-out, eighth-inning, walk-off single after Muldrow rallied from a 5-0 deficit with a two-run fifth inning, a single run in the sixth inning and a tworun seventh inning to get the game tied at 5-all after seven innings.

For the game, Young was 3-for-4 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, Price was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Amaya Duran was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Tune tripled, scored twice and had an RBI.

Dean got the win, getting six strikeouts in eight innings.

In the loss to Stigler, the Lady Panthers broke a scoreless tie with an eight-run fifth inning for an 8-0 lead. Another eight-run inning in the sixth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Tune, Price, Dean, Amarie Duran, Annalyse Sutton and Kaira Qualls all singled for the Lady Bulldogs.

Dean took the loss, despite striking out three batters in 5.1 innings. Amaya Duran got the last two outs.
