Roland Lady Rangers suffer winless week
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

It was a rough week for the Roland Lady Rangers last week as they went 0-3.

The week started with a 12-3 home loss to Henryetta on Aug. 28, then came an 8-0 road loss to Spiro on Aug. 29.

The week ended with a 12-1 loss Thursday at home to Pocola.

In the loss to Pocola, the Lady Indians (15-3) broke a scoreless tie with a five-run second inning for a 5-0 lead. Another run in the fifth inning upped the advantage to 6-0.

The lone run for the Lady Rangers (6-9) scored on an RBI groundout by Addyson Clark in the home half of the fifth inning.

In defeat, Emily Daws went 3-for-3, while Jazzlyn Teehee was 2-for-2 with a run scored for Roland.

KyLeigh Knapp (2-3) took the loss, getting one strikeout in six innings.

In the road loss to Spiro, Spiro pitcher Kami Autrey threw a two-hitter and struck out eight batters.

The Lady Bulldogs scored twice in each of the first two innings for a 4-0 lead, then doubled their advantage to 8-0 with a four-run fifth inning.

In defeat, all the Lady Rangers could muster offensively was a single apiece by Aubriana Gragg and Jaydance Bean.

Knapp took the loss, despite fanning two batters in six innings.

In the loss to Henryetta, the Lady Black Knights put away the game with single runs in the first and third innings, two runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning for an 8-0 lead.

The Lady Rangers scored all three runs in their half of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Gragg, a passed ball and an RBI single by Emily Daws to cut Roland’s deficit to 8-3 after five innings, but they go no closer.

In defeat, Gragg, Daws and Clark each singled for Roland’s three hits. Knapp suffered her first loss of the season, despite striking out six batters in seven innings.
