Rep. Jim Olsen, RRoland, attended a ceremonial bill signing on Friday, Aug. 25, of legislation he coauthored to increase pay for election day inspectors, judges and clerks.
Senate Bill 290, which was authored in the Senate by Sen. Warren Hamilton, RMcCurtain, increased pay for election inspectors from $110 to $225 and pay for judges and clerks from $100 to $200.
“Oklahoma’s election day staff works hard to ensure the security of our elections across the state,” Olsen said. “They play a vital role in ensuring the safe, free elections that the foundations of our country are based upon. I’m glad we were able to pass a pay raise for these diligent workers and grateful that Governor Stitt agreed this increase was necessary.”
SB290 was signed into law in June and takes effect July 1, 2024.
